Aesthetics is a new Art Direction feature in Dreem Studio that gives you direct control over the background, lighting, and visual style of your Virtual Model generations. If you've ever wanted your model shots to consistently reflect a specific mood, setting, or brand look, Aesthetics is how you set that.
What Aesthetics does
When you select an Aesthetic before generating, Dreem uses it to guide the visual environment of your output, including the background scene, color palette, and overall tone. Your talent, pose, and outfit selections work exactly as before. Aesthetics layers on top to define the world your model appears in.

Prefer a quick walkthrough? Watch this short tutorial to see how Aesthetics works in Dreem, including how to custom your own background, or finding the best aesthetics with your preferred tone & style. You can also follow the step-by-step guide below.
Choosing from the Aesthetics library
In Dreem Studio, open the Art Direction panel to access the Aesthetics view. You'll find 100+ options, each with a name, background description, and color palette preview. Use the filters to narrow down options by mood or style direction, for example warm, neutral, or cool tones.
Aesthetics is currently available for Virtual Model generations. Support for Product Shot is coming soon.
Once you find an option that fits, select it before starting your generation session.
Creating your own Studio Aesthetic
If none of the library options match your brand, you can create a custom Aesthetic by selecting “Create Your Own” in the Aesthetics library.
Step 1: Upload a scene reference image that represents the look you want
💡 Pro-tips: You can also add some notes to help Dreem interpret your intent
Step 2: Dreem will generate several interpretations for you to review
Step 3: Select the one that best matches your reference, click "Use," then confirm with "Save & Use"
Your custom Aesthetic is then saved and available to select for future sessions.
Using an Aesthetic in your generation workflow
Selecting an Aesthetic does not change the rest of the Virtual Model workflow. You still choose your talent, pose, and style your outfit using the Outfit Builder as usual. The selected Art Direction setting applies automatically when you generate.
If you want to test a different look, simply return to the Art Direction panel, swap the Aesthetic, and generate a new session.
Getting the most out of Aesthetics
Once you select an Aesthetic, it stays active as your default for any new sessions you create. Your generations will follow that setting until you return to the Art Direction panel and change it. This makes it straightforward to maintain a consistent background and visual tone across a full catalog run without re-selecting your style each time.
If you have a seasonal campaign or a specific shoot style in mind, creating a custom Aesthetic from a reference image gives you a repeatable starting point without having to re-describe your preferences each time.
